Understanding U-factor and Rebate Amounts
The U-factor measures a window’s ability to prevent heat from escaping. A lower U-factor indicates better insulation and energy efficiency, leading to greater savings on energy bills.
Pre-Existing Windows | New Windows | Rebate Amount |
---|---|---|
Single-pane (wood or metal framed) | U-factor between 0.23 and 0.30 | $50 per window, up to $750 |
Single-pane (wood or metal framed) | U-factor of 0.22 or lower | $100 per window, up to $1,500 |
Double-pane (metal framed) | U-factor of 0.22 or lower | $100 per window, up to $1,500 |
Single-Pane (Wood/Metal Framed)
- U-factor 0.23 to 0.30: $50 per window (up to $750).
- U-factor 0.22 or lower: $100 per window (up to $1,500).
Double-Pane (Metal Framed)
- U-factor 0.22 or lower: $100 per window (up to $1,500).
Upgrading to windows with a lower U-factor maximizes both energy savings and rebate benefits.
