Cleaning Wood Doors:
- Start off by wiping the top of the door frames to remove any dust that may have built up over time using a soft rag. Then, wipe the rest of the door frame using either a feather duster or a rag.
- After the door frame has been cleaned, move on to cleaning the surface of the door by using either a homemade multi-purpose cleaner or a commercial cleaner. Wipe the surface of the door in the direction of the grain, using a soft rag.
- Finally, use an all-purpose cleaner to clean door knobs or door handles. If your door has brass fixtures, then it is best to use homemade or commercial brass cleaner. If your door has a glass window, use a glass cleaner to make it shiny and to have a streak free shine.
Cleaning Glass Doors:
- It is best to pick a day that is cloudy, to avoid sunlight drying out the cleaning solution too quickly and leaving streaks.
- Start by spraying the glass with either a homemade or commercial window cleaning solution.
- Use a sponge with a scrubber on one side to get the tough water spots and debris off the glass. When the surface feels smooth to the touch that is a good sign that the glass is ready to be rinsed with water.
- After rinsing the glass door with water, use an absorbent towel to hand dry the glass. It is important to avoid pressure washing exterior doors and windows. This could allow moisture into your home through gaps around or under the openings.
